i would like to add a pair of clowns (very broad statment) to my tank. now before i do i would like a little heads up. fist off what do these little guys eat, second how offten should i feed them. i am some what hopping that my tank will support the fish some what by its self. i have been reading that they will eat copods and algey. so i was thinking that the algey i give to my tang + the massive amount of copods would allow these guy to hunt for there own food. second thing is i wil be trying to find the smalest pair i can :D, I think that will look very cute in my tank LOL. any way many thanks

the tank works out to about 180 US gal with the sump. think most of you have seen the setup thread. have one unicorn tang that craps him self at the smallest of things. once again he is only a baby to  . think he need some friends LOL

many thanks ROB :good:

I'm not sure about clowns in general, but I can tell you that my two clowns don't touch the alge/seaweed I give my dwarf angel, and they don't bother with any food as small as copepods. My eat flake food, and various frozen foods.

Clowns eat just about anything. Algae, flake, frozen, pods. SOmetimes they're VERY picky when they first are added to the tank and selectively eat the foods their LFS has been feeding them. If this is the case you may have to ask the LFS what they've been eating and provide that for the first few weeks. They'll come around eventually. Either way, they will not be able to survive longterm without feedings. What kind of clowns were you thinking about? The typical Ocellaris/Percula or something different like Skunks, Clarkii, Tomato, or Maroon?

Yer they dont touch algea, but i know mine likes seaweed, he swims away with the piece in his mouth with the others chancing

mine dont touch pods mostly because they stay towards the top of the tank. IME clowns need to be given food. if id rely on them to find there own food, theyd be dead.

good thing is they eat about anything.. my clowns favorite is flake and brine.

My clown loves brine shrimp and frozen pellets and has also been known to steal nori from my tang :D

cool many thank :D . well i think i will have a bit of a rethink on them then. but i say that now but when i get to my LFS you know it will be a different story LOL . anyway many thanks
