Dennis has a bit of fin rot, on his "gill" fin which I didnt see before, I have epson salt (magnesium sulfate), but is it the same thing as aquarium salt? (I wasnt really sure...) I also have bettafix. Should I start a treatment with this, or should I get something else?
Btw its only on one gill fin, and a tiny amount on the back fins. I want to treat this now before it gets out of control...

No, epsom salt is not the same as aquarium salt. Aquarium salt is the same as table salt without the added iodine, etc. Use the bettafix, but keep a close eye on the fin rot. If it starts spreading, switch to a stronger antibiotic after doing a 100% water change. I have had good luck with Maracyn and Maracyn 2 in combination. They should be available from most good fish stores.

If you are using a filter on your tank that has carbon (charcoal) in it, you'll have to remove the pad that contains the carbon or it will just soak up whatever medicine you are using.

Keep us updated on his condition. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. I have the same tank as you, but intstead of a filter I threw in a bubbler. (His fins were getting sucked in.) I just put in some Bettafix. I hope he gets better!

OH and incase anyones wonderng about Elvis II, (The bloated one) he started eating again after more than 15 days of bloating. He's still bloated, and he might be pineconing.... :-( I guess its dropsy then. Wow.
