i have a bit of a problem, and don't entirely know what to do. right now i am living in an apartment with my fiance and our two friends, and we are moving out due to our roommates within the next few months definetly(hopefully more like the next few weeks). i am already starting to rehome several of my fish(angel fish, 4 line catfish) as much as i don't want to down size the number of tank i need to move and clean weekly. so that i want to continue to run either my 15 or 30 gallon tank for my females bettas, a few guppies, and my cories. i also will be brining my other bettas 6 males and 2 females(don't like the other girls). now heres the problem fiance's parents are being kind enough to let us to rent their house they just moved out of a little over a year ago which i am extremly great full for, but the water there is well water that happens to be salt water....... in order to do all of my proper water changes i would have to get at least 15 gallons of water from my mom or another source(most likely store) every week until they can get another well dug up. if it was a low salt content then i wouldn't have such an issue, but the last time i checked the salt content was so high you couldn't even drink it.

now heres my question to you..... is there anything could do to treat the well water so that it is usable or do i just have to wait it out and haul/buy water from all over until a new well can be dug that isn't salt water?? any help is appreciated thank you.

I'd be just as concerned about what I was going to drink and have baths in!

RO will remove the salt, but it'll also remove everything else too- all the trace elements that are required in a balanced ecosystem. Pure RO is not recommended without supplements.

Not sure about bottled mineral water TBH.

Would it be possible to evapourate the water, leaving the salt behind? A bit out there, but its all I could think of.

i was told that i could set up an ro system to take care of it but if it is going to remove everything then what about adding rain water or something along those lines every so often or even adding small amounts of tap water from my mom's or his parents houses to add back some minerals and what not that would have been removed just without all the salt??
