Right, I'm not exactly new to fishkeeping, having had them for the past three to four years. Have never really sought to expand my knowledge as I was happy with the tank I had and the set up I had going. Currently I have a 24x12 tank which really is quite small.

I recently moved house and have now bought a Rena Classic 200cm x 50cm x 70cm tank which will sit nicely in my kitchen. I plan to use this as a Community Tank.

I know about the Nitrogen Cycle and the water quality shall be spot on before any fish go in. The tank is second hand and already cycled, but I'll make sure before I go ahead and slowly begin the stock the tank.

There are numerous fish I am interested in. I currently have Neon Tetras and Platys in my 24x12.

PH of the water is about 7.5 and my water is medium in terms of hardness. I don't have the stats to hand but my KH is pretty good too. My tap water Nitrate is about 15-20.

The fish I am looking at are:

1) Kribensis
2) Bolivian Ram
3) Glow Light Tatra
4) Dwarf or Honey Gourami's
5) Clown Loaches
6) Rummy Nose Tetras
7) Possibly a Betta
8) Red Irian Rainbow Fish
9) Boesemani Rainbow Fish
10) Blue Discus (is this a bad idea?)

Can anyone advise as to how these fish will do. Will a seperate group of Tetras be compatibale with a group of neon?

Are the two drarf Cichlids listed above compatible in such a large tank?

As Clown Loaches are a schooling fish how many should I get?

i may be new but i no that discus fish are quite aggressive tetras should be fine and dwarf gouramis would be good i had them in my old tank

discus are difficult and expensive fish to keep, unless you have cash and a lot of time to spare making their water PERFECT (2 water changes a week etc) i'd cross them off the list.

how many US gallons is that tank? sounds big, do you know how many litres exactly?
of course, bigger is better! and with that size tank i think you will be able to keep clown loaches, they grow slow though, but once full grown will be about 12".

edit:
http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=34953 - Clown Loachs

You couldn't keep a betta with kribs or rams though, too many terroritoral aggressive fishies!

do not put discuss in that tank it will spell disaster tetras will be fine i would say keep clown loaches in about 3-4 strong they will be fine but they do get big!

There are about 640 'useful' litres. The tank is listed as about 700 litres.

Regarding the discus question I was reading a site today that said compatability included Tetras and was astounded, hence the bit in brackets after my question.

Knew that couldn't be right!

hey i have 2 boesmanni rainbows, had them for about a week, their just starting to show their colours now, theyre still only juviniles though! theyre really nice, peaceful and friendly, theyre always at the front of the tank , lovely fish, i would recommened a few of them for your tank!
