Hi :)

i've got a 90L tank with only 3 small Tiger Barbs at the moment.but this is my first tank and I know they are aggresive and i am hoping to add some more Tiger Barbs soon.

what i would like to know is what could i add to this tank that could live with a group of tiger barbs in this size of tank

Thanks.

species only tank, more barbs = win win

Maybe a pair of Kribs or Bolivian Rams. Stick with the one schooling fish (your barbs) as another would just look wrong.

Is this tank cycled? How long has the tank been up and running? Do you have a liquid test kit for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate?

Don't add ANY more fish until you are certain that your filter is properly cycled and the bacteria can handle the waste from your fish, then SLOWLY increase your shoal size of tigers. Too few tigers is a bad thing. The more, the better. Then you can consider adding the kribs, etc.

If you have no idea what I mean by the word "cycled" then have a read through the beginners resource thread (after you do a large water change on your tank, as you probably already have some ammonia issues in there).

The tank has been running for 13 days with fish in it for 6 days.

So, it isn't cycled. Read the thread in my sig on Fish-in Cycling.

You need a liquid test kit. You need to change the water NOW. The fish are producing ammonia that your biofilter can't handle. Until it can (weeks from now) you will need to do water changes to remove the excess ammonia. Later you will need to remove the nitrites. Eventually you will go a few days without needing a change. Then you will go a week without needing a change and then you are cycled for that bioload. Then slowly increase your stocking level.

Please read the link. It says far more than I can type here now.

Ok, so I need to do a water change as soon as I can?

Without testing you can't be sure, but I am guessing that you already have a build up of ammonia. Have you done a water change since you got them? Do you have a test kit?

I havn't done a water change since I got them and I havn't got a test kit. However I am taking a sample of water to my local fish store to get it tested.

You need to do a water change NOW, regardless of testing. Your fish will soon die otherwise, sorry to be blunt.

Read THIS very carefully so you understand what is happening in your tank.
