8ft on ebay only £200

Thanks mate, I have concrete floors so not a problem. Guess I'm a bit concerned about going from 4'x2' tanks to something that size, but it seems to be a lot of tank for that price. Does anyone know what the life span is on these, or whether it'll need re-sealing?

Do yourself a favour, go to the bank, withdraw £200 and buy that tank now! You will not see another offer like that in a long time and will be kicking yourself for ever if you dont buy it, if i lived closer to Telford it would already be gone.

Even in the unlikely event of the tank needing resealing you are only looking at about £20 for the silicone but providing the tank has been well looked after and only used for freshwater the seals are good for 25 years minimum.

I've seen tanks as larger or larger still in use for over 15 years but I don't know lifespans on them. I have the money, could make the room and probably convince my girlfriend to let me get it but sadly I live in the US and it'd cost more than buying a new tank just to fly out to get that thing.

Man, if only I could get it up the stairs to the flat...Sadly, I nearly died with the exhaustion of getting the 6 x 1/5 up two floors (or four flights of stairs ) and I don't think the ceilings are tall enough to take it.

Otherwise I'd have gone for that in a flash!

Go for it! You could get a area rug or two to put under it but make sure thit is even. Bigger tanks are actually easier to maintain levels on so it would be no big jump. That is honestly the best bargain i have ver seen in my life. My 55 cost 125$ just for the tank itself with hood and lights but that is a really good price for a tank that size.

Fishy411 is right. Once set up and cycled, the tank would be easier to keep balanced than a smaller one. I wish I was nearby. I would snag it in a heartbeat. The possibilites...............

TBH if i was going to go that big (one day) I would get a new one. Just not worth an accident on that size.

although i'ved had no problems with my 200gallon thankfully.

I'd love to have that tank but no room and currently no dosh!! takes long enough doing my current water changes though!! Not that you should let that put you off though. Depending on your stocking you could leave water changes a bit later.

thanks. I would snap it up instantly but shortage of cash and space means it's a no no and i don't think it's that local either....
