shortly i will be setting my fish room going :D

the rack i will be using is going to be 8ft long obviously there will be any number of different size tanks on this rack but i dont want to light each tank on its own. can i get a light that would be around the 8ft mark? im going to want plants in alot of these tanks i think so obviously light will be needed but separate lighting over 20 tanks individually will cost me a fortune!!

heres a pic of what im planning on doing and i will make sure i use heat resistant wood.

i know i can get ceiling lights the right size but the colour of them is hideous i bought one that said white and it was a god awful yellow!

hopefully someone will understand my jiberish

have you ever wondered how shops light all their tanks?
the answer is Arcadia produce a shop unit that can run upto 10 4ft tubes from one ballast.
these are not on sale to the general public but you may find one on ebay or on one of those recycle websites etc.
also ask you local shops if they have any old ones lying around, especially if they recently had a revamp.
you may even be very lucky to find a retailer that will order you one in on their account but be aware they are not cheap.

Home Depot or a Lowes can special order anything for you. We have a 9 foot florescent light over some of our indoor plants and that is where we got them.

i think i may look into that though wolf sounds like a good idea to me do u mave a model number for it by any chance?

sorry i can't find my trade catalog amounst the mess that is my room.
if i find it, i'll let you know.

Well, I know we have OLD 8ft T12 lights in a lot of rooms here at work so they're clearly "made" but as the-wolf said, not for general public sale. You might be best off going with a multiple 4' setup.
