I plan to make an 8x8x8 betta cube from glass i'll have cut at my local home depot. How commonly is fish-safe sealant available? About how much does it cost?

The tank above holds about 2 1/5 gallons. Is that a good volume? Are the dimensions right? Anyone else had experience with making their own tanks? Thanks, any and all input is appreciated!

Sounds like a good-sized betta tank :)
I've seen aquarium sealant at my local LFS and at Wal-Mart, so I'd say it's pretty commonly available. It's only a couple of bucks a tube too, so very affordable.

That is a great tank size. :) I can get aquarium sealant at my LFS for $4.60 for a medium sized tube.

dont just get 8" panels cut...

You'll bee to over lap the corners so you'll bee to have some smaller than others

would mean that you would need to take a thickness of glass of every edge of the botom panel :)

I know...I'll have the pieces cut in such a way as to make the final tank measure 8x8x8. What would you guys use for a lid or hood? Keep in mind that that tank will have plain glass around the top edges, so...

Also, do you think I could add some ghost shrimp or a dwarf african frog or two?
