well ill start by saying i dont want to do a nano im jus thinking a couple of pieces of small live rock and fish if theres any that can live in an 8g?

i have a filter for it, if i got a skimmer and heater then is that all i need?

is there any fish that could go in the tank that size? how bigger tank do clown fish need?

and lastly, is this too good to be true or would it be ok in my little tank.

erm firstly it is classed as a nano because its smaller than 30gallons. usualy you wont require a skimmer although if you want one why the hell not. but that one is a bit crap imo. and yer you could probably get away with a clown just aslong as you did water changes weekly and had stable conditions. although check with one of the higher ranks as i know some stuff but it may not always be right :good:

As said, an 8g tank would be a nano.

You dont need a filter, ditch it and buy LR instead.

Id buy a small clown, but it will need rehoming eventually if it grows to its full potential. Id much rather see something else, smaller go in. IE a small Clown goby.

It is to good to be true, because its not going to be a decent skimmer for over 12 pound. Forget it, and put the money towards soething else instead. With such a small tank, just do a 10-20% water change every week.

Well youll need a hydrometer or refractometer, about 4kilos of LR, and you will need a saltwater test kit (i dont know wheather you would need a master....?)
Also, you would need something to circulate water, so a powerhead with a 15x turnover, IMO.

just a fish only system then..... if you want any coral's at a later date you'd need to upgrade the lighting but a standard fluor tube is fine for FOWLR.

Only thing I'd say is with a smaller tank it's a hell of a lot harder to maintain your levels and stability of water. Don't think just cos it's small it'll be easier. I'd go for a bigger set up tbh. :)

Hi sam, Ive got a nano 16x8x8 and i use a small ehiem pump for water circulation & it works great! also ive got 2.5kgs live rock & used 36watt t5 compact white /blue, the live rock have got some coral on & they are doing fine! The only problem i find is the water evaporates quite quickly i top up almost daily it averages about 1.5 litres of water a week!

Yeah, if you dont want to get an RO supply installed (about £50-60) then you have to go to the LFS, and they should sell RO for about 50p per gallon.
You can get some big 20litre containers off ebay, and then keep a supply so you dont have to keep going back :good:
