i have a planted tank with 8 pregnant female guppies at the moment!

i don't know which one of them is giving birth! is there a way to determine which is giving birth?

they're all swimming and acting alike! so it's really hard for me to spot which one is giving birth right now!

so far i have 2 fry in my breeding trap and i'm trying to find more that are hiding in the plants of my tank!

just gotta get whatever female it is that's giving birth so i can rescue more of my frys!

sorry if this thread makes NO SENSE what so ever lol! forgive me! gotta try and rescue more frys!

i'll be back later on with pictures of the survivors! THANKS IN ADVANCE!

There is maybe a posibility that which ever one gave birth that its has now finished, usually the one giving birth iwll be away from the crowd acting pretty mobid... look for one of the guppies that has a very flat belly (or light gravid spot) as this iwll be the one..

which ever it is, is still in labor... i saw 2 frys swimming around like mad men!

by the time i got the net to scoop them out, the damn guppies ate them :-(

can you tell if the fry is guppy/molly/platy?

cause i keep looking close at the frys... they look like platy frys

Look like platy fry to me guppy fry is longer and thinner

They dont look like they have just been born either. They could be a few days old, if not older

They are platy fry m8, they are not newly born, probably survivors from a previous drop form one of your platys... they look at least 3-7 days old.

you seriously have got to be kidding me!

i swear i was just rearranging the plants in my tank yesterday morning and i didn't see no frys!

but if these guys are this old... then i don't even know what to say cause i spend hours and hours in front of my tank every day!

i just saved another fry! so altogether i have 3 so far!

it was laying on the bottom of the gravel then i spotted to tiny little eyes staring at me!

if you guys are telling me correctly... omg! i don't even know when they got here! and i don't even know what platy is pregnant! haha!

all the females look the same size to me...

can you guys give me tips on what i can do to ensure that these fellas/ladies survive?

this is MY 1ST EXPERIENCE with livebearer frys! yayyy! so excited! haha! :good:

Treat them the same as you would their parents only when feeding make sure you give them smaller portions but more frequently througout the day crumbled flakes, liquifry, baby brine shrimp, is just a couple of things you could feed them as they get bigger you can move onto bloodworms etc, keep your tank water clean and that all i can think off really they not that hard to rear infact they take no rearing just feeding regular will bring them along good

Stiffler is right and ther aint much really i can add to that except good luck :)

thanks so much guys for your replys and tips :good: :good:

yea, i crumbled a bit of flake into microscopic pieces for the frys!

then i noticed that the whole tank is surrounding the frys trying to eat them!

so i trimmed a part of my plant and put it into the trap so that the frys have some sort of cover/hiding place to reduce less stress on them

i also placed the trap where the water flows from the filter create some kinda "water flow"... is that a good idea? or should i place the trap where the water is more calm?

another thing... it's natural to see the "blood sac" or whatever the red thing is inside the fry?

when do they start coloring?

at the moment, the only possibilty of what kind of platy the frys are are: sunset platy, red platy or a mix of the two species... but i can be wrong though
