8 Discus In A 50 Gallon

I was reading in PFK April issue that a reader has 8 discus in a 50 gallon among other fish.
I was surprised that PFK would even print this, 8 discus would surely need AT LEAST 80 gallon and no other fish in the tank?

I have 5 discus and a male betta in 125 litre tank Which i think is just under 30 gallon and they are fine.

8 young discus would be fine in a 50g but would need bigger quarters when mature.
