I just picked this tank up last night for an absolute steal, 150$ for everything including a dresser to put it on. This was an unexpected purchase but the deal was just to sweet to pass up. It will replace my current tank which is a 30 gal.

I plan to do a planted tank in the future when i get more cash(don't we all need that) so for now it will have my previos plastic plants in it which dont look to bad.

Im gonna cycle it for a week without fish and a week with 8 tiger barbs. Next will go my two pictus cats, and finally my banded lepournis, other fish will will be added once i decided what those will be.

here is a pick of just the tank, i will have more pictures Friday and probably an update on the pictures every 2 days

Great deal & congrats.

Just how are you going to cycle it?
A week cycling without fish (how exactly?)
And then a week with 8 tiger barbs (are you removing the ones from your 30G - because if you do that, the beneficial bacterial colony in your 30Gal with die right off and only support what's remaining. So that by the time you move the remaining fish and barbs across, your filter will only have a fraction of the bacteria it needs.

Are you moving across your established filter to your next tank?
Just be very careful with Ammonia & Nitrite - pictus are highly sensitive to either and do not do well in new tanks.
But I'm sure they'll love the extra swimming space!

It looks really small to be 75US gallons...but it could just be the image that makes it look like that....nice pick up never the less

the first week is really for me to make sure everything is working the way i want, since the stuf is used i wanna be sure im not gonna be putting my fish into anything that i deem unfit. as for the fish that will be going in, they are gonna be new tiger barbs, i plan to increase the school by about 6-8. i will be using one f the cartriges from my established filter to help the process along with the new tank, and i have the testing kits to be sure that it is safe for the cats. and yea, im really excited about the added space, and i do appreciate the concern, people will deffiintly think of something that i wont so i aprreciate all advice positive or negitive :good:

the tank does look small in the picture now that i look at it, its 48.5 inches long 18 deep and i think 21 high

Great find! :good: However, unless you are adding a source of ammonia for the first week there is no cycle happening, once you add the fish you'll be doing a fish-in cycle. That's why Bloo asked.

If you have a tank currently running just clone the filter, chuck 50% of the media from the old filter in the new filter then you can half stock the new tank rite away.

oh wow i love the wallpaper!! you have great taste!:)

oh yeah the tank is ..well an empty tank lol

look forward to the update pics, im sure they will be very good

UPDATE: hit a bit of a snag with the dresser that the tank was going to sit on, turns out that the guy who owned it before me didn't understand the weight of a 75 gal tank, the dresser was bowed ever so slighty, but enough that i decided im gonna buy a real 75 gal fish tank stand that way ill be sure it will be ok, ill have an update as soon as i get the stand (its gotta be shipped) if anyones knows anything about this stand, this is the one i think im gonna get

NEW FISH
Its been a while since i updated the status of the tank so i figured today would be a good time seeing as how i have 2 new fish
i went to my lfs today and ended up with 2 adult kribs one male and one female. apparently another fish keeper had been using these two to breed many times and had just brought them in that day because he wanted to try something new, so i got these two for only 15 bucks. the tank itself is almost done, once i sell my old tank ill have the money for a good light system and therefor will be able to do real plants, those fake ones are ok but not what i really want. also a background is needed.
