Whats the difference between 25 watt "Aquarium lights" and everyday 60 watt regular bulbs? I have a desk lamp for a small tank, and it can hold the more expensvie aqaurium light, and the regular light. Am I missing something here?

The problem with regular fluorescent bulbs is they are not the right color (usually 2700k)

plants need over 5500K and below 10000K color to be able to use the light.

Some hardware stores do sell these lights but I have a hard time finding them.

However, if you can find a fluorescent light that's correct color and powerful enough for you, go ahead and screw it in you desk lamp. it will do the same job!
