I bought 6 little blue baby cichlids from my mixed africans tank at my LFS a few weeks ago. they all looked like baby M. callainos, i figured most of them would actually be M. callainos and the rest may indeed be something different.

One is developing the dark vertical striping. Looks very much like the others, but he's the only one developing the stripes.

The other has some turquoise coloring around the head, and random darker shading toward his tail. Also, his body isn't quite as "long" as the others. gets skinnier before the tail fin.

Any idea what these could be, or do some M. callainos get stripes? As for the one shaped a little different with turquoise head and dark marking i have no idea.

I'd take pictures, but, a). my camera is rubbish, and b.) they are too little and quick to catch a clear shot of them (also very much to do with my camera being rubbish). :D

in any event, i will still attempt to get a pic or two.

Hard to say without a pic. I have the exact same problem with regards to taking photos. Does your camera have an option to take small video clips? If so do that, then upload them to google video and post the link. Thats what I do

no, my camera is double rubbish. it's an older HP digi camera, with no video option, and a flash that doesn't work. outside the pictures are decent, anything inside and it just lacks the light it needs to take a decent pic.

and fish that age don't sit still for more than a fraction of a second, so there's no way i'm gonna get a good shot of one. :/
