Got my mum a 5 gal tank yesterday heater filter an such and she bought a betta lovely lookin thing anyway

what can she put in with this ? or is it best alone

You could diveide the 5 gallon and buy another betta for the other side of it. or an african dwarf frog could go with your betta

I put in 3 pigmy cories with my betta and 6 amano shrimp
a nice piece of bogwood and a few silk plants

it makes for a lively and colorful tank!

Hi paul,

I would go with an apple snail or 2 take a look at this site http/www.snailshop.co.uk/ there are loads of gorgeous snails to choose from.

a group of most type of corys would work in a 5gal as long as the filtration is ok. Just remember to wait until the tank is fully mature before you go filling it with anything else. Leave it with the betta in for at least 2 weeks.

Some tankmates that could go with bettas..

- Corys
- Otto Catfish
- ADF (NOT ACF!)
- Gobys
- Dwarf Chain Loaches (if you can find them!)

There are more but these are the most commonly available ones. You would be surprised what works well with bettas, I have kept them with many things but they simply don't interest me much anymore.

or afew shrimp

bear in mind you may have to experiment because some bettas will eat some things and others wont.it all depends on the personality

I'd go with a small group of cories and put some structure in the tank because cories need good spots to hide away.
