Hello all

I have recently purchased a 5ft tank from the bay came with Fluval 405 (that just whirrs doesnt suck any water)

I am having trouble figuring out the litres (on the back it says Juwel 3 times on the back the dimensions are

5 foot / width = 15 inchs / height = 18 inchs

Any ideas what tank it could be model etc

I have inserted a pic

Ebay

Hopefully it will work

Also any ideas on stocking, i currently have

4 x clown loaches
11 x Tetra
4 Corys
1 2" catfish
1 x Angelfish
4 x Goramis (spelling :))

Want if possible some bigger fish maybe upto 4" or is this a bad idea

Cheers in advance

John

:D thats the one i have won

Its a nice tank, you only paid slightly more than I did for the seabray, sadly that is no more thanks to a crappy van driver. Still gave me an excuse to splash out on a RIO 400 :rolleyes:

Anyway to work out your volume I would use this calculator it tells me yours is 265l / 70 USG

Google tells me..
5 ft = 150 cm
15 inch = 38 cm
18 inch = 45 cn

150*38*45= 250 litres

But you already have a at least 5 fish which will grow over 4"! 15" front to back is a little on the small size for the loaches in the long term.. I recommend you do the following to the stock:
* 6-10 × clown loaches - schooling, big group is better than 4
* 15 × tetra of one species - schooling
* 8-12 × Corys of one species - schooling
* 1 × 2" catfish - get this one IDed
* 6-8 × angels - new ones should be same size as the current one, best to get them at the same time as moving the old fish over
* 4 × gouramis - get these IDed
…this leaves you room for more tetras or something else eventually.

Thanks for that, so can fit a few more in there then :D

Assuming your filtration is up for it and you stock slowly, I don't see why you shouldn't be able to top up the groups. But I do recommend against any new species.

Filtration is good i am using a APS 2000 2000Litres an hour external at the moment

I have one of those filters (just branded as eagle aquatics) the 2000 liters an hour figure is without any media, the actual output is less than half that!

If there is enough bio-media and you remove the debris with a syphon, it would probably still be fine, especially if you go planted.

In my RIO 400 is has enough bio-media to deal with the Ammonia and Nitrite, but the flow rate is poor, it needs a powerhead to stop the E300 heater moaning of low flow

I meant for the other person :) but if the flow is too low to distribute the water properly, that is indeed poor.

Hmm, noticed yesterday evening that my Albino Cory has laid eggs on sides of tank, could be a interesting match if they hatch, as i have one Albino and 3 x Bronze.

Lets see what happens :D
