55Gal - Best Tank

Im gonna start making a saltwater tank out of a 55gal tank, what would be the best set up, equipment wise, that i could buy at a decent price for saltwater, i know its gonna be pricey but since my parents told me they would help me out i wanna get the best equipment. I wanna hear everyones opinions cause i know some people like some items more then others. Thanks =]

where are you? and what budget?

cos seriously you could spend 10 grand without breaking a sweat for the best of the best stuff...but thats just silly money.

oh yeah...and what do you want to keep in this tank?

Yeah 10 grand would be ridiculously silly haha. i dont plan on spending too much. 500-600 maybe. im not gonna be buying everything at once, gonna over time buy piece by piece starting with the tank. I plan on at starting a reef and adding some small fish, then after everything is set up and the tank is running perfect, i wanna get a bigger fish, ive grown fond of lionfish so possible one of the, volitan or drawf not sure yet. I am new to aquariums, i was gonna start with freshwater as everyone has advised me to do so, but i really like saltwater fish a lot more, it may be a lot more difficult seeing its a learning process but i have the patience to do everything correctly and if needed trial and error. I was first gonna start off with a 10gal nano reef but then was told that starting with a 55 gal would be better. im in central jersey, a guy i work with has a 75 gal saltwater tank and he says he has several things he might be able to give me to use buy that stuff is most likely 3-4 years old so idk how well they will work.
