Okay, so Mum's still trying to sort out her tank, we've ruled out african cichlids so far, but I've been showing her pics of some SA cichlids, and there's a few she quite likes. She really likes the Jack Dempseys, but would prefer to have more then on fish. So what's compatible with a jack Dempsey in a standard 55g four foot? I was thinking either convicts or a sev? or is a four foot too small for a JD? She really likes blue acaras as well, would a JD live fairly peaceably with a blue acara?

Or just a list of what fish they do get on with would be great!

I had my JD in a 55G by himself (cichlid wise) until a few months ago. A JD can live by itself in a 55G for life with no problem though I felt it was a little tight so hence why I upgraded. I wouldn't keep any other cichlids in a 55 with a full grown male JD because of territorial issues. I guess for 9 months or so you could get away with maybe a con or fm in with it, or maybe try and get a mating pair of jd's, but beyond that, I would keep any other cichlids in with a JD in a 55G.

If you open up the tank size to a 75G or 90, then you can open your stocking and maybe fit in an acara and a con or fm :good:

JD's are my fav cichlid so whenever you guys get one, please post pics :good: Always love to see peoples JD's
