Im going to change my 55 gallon tank to salt soon and want to know the dos and donts of hardware. I have a big penguin dual wheel filter system the emperor I think its called. I need a protein skimmer for the tank. Its going to be a starter tank. Live sand, and maybe some live rock with it but not much for starters. So, what do I need? I want to stay under 100.00 bucks or around that for the protein skimmer. Is the filter good enough. Will I need a wet dry skimmer or just a wet one? All I want is a communtiy tank maybe one semi agressive fish. Mostly Clowns, a puffer, tang, just a lot of color and cool fish. nothing over 5 inches long maybe some crabs, and shrimp, and a angle or two. How many fish can you have in a 55 gallon tank? small ones. 10 or 15 topps the some bottom cleaners? Please let me know. I was told I need to let my tank to cycle for 2 weeks before adding fish. and use the I.O water. So, if Im missing anything please let me know.
