5 Mollies...

I asked the lady who owned an LFS near me if I could buy the dalmation molly fry in one of the tanks and she gave all 5 of them to me for the price of one adult dalmation molly! They are soooo cute! It's so fun to see them playing with my black "petsmart-rescue" molly babies!

That is really cheap i got two for a dollar when i first started my tank in december. The female is now pregnant i can't wait to see the fry since the female is grey and the male is all white i also just bought an all black one yesterday I also have three rainbow platy. I am going to take the red wag platy back since it is paralized on one side. I feel so bad for it when it swimms it basically looks like a dog rolling over all the way across the tank. It is kinda funny.

Petco gives fry away for free. Thats how I got my two beautiful Dalmation molly babies. They really shouldnt charge you for the fry, as they would be eaten anyways if you didnt buy them. Next time I would try and get them for free, as to the store they are "dead-stock". The store got them for free, its unfair for them to try and make a profit. Beleive me, its true, i used to work at a pet store....

Actually, I have gotten free fry from petco and petsmart. Those fry were near death because they were so thin. These fry, however, looked great! They were healthy and roaming around the tank in search of food. The owners of that fish store do such an amazing job of taking care of their fish that I'm sure most of them would have grown to full maturity in that tank. I guess I just consider it an early purchase for cheap!

Fry do grow up soooo quickly! The two black molly fry I rescued from Petsmart have doubled in size over the one month that I've had them! I luv fry!!!

Thats because Petco doesnt feed their fish...like ever. Maybe once a week they will throw in some food, but Fry cant survive on that little. I think its because they figure the fish will be going home soon anyways...

P.S I worked at petco....so I know.

Yeah, i would take treatment of the shelves and treat the fish if i worked sumwhere like petco or a chain store like walmart

Every time I went to Petsmart - I don't go there anymore - they never had fry, although they claimed they gave them up for adoption. I have a hunch that some of these stores take the fry out of the tanks and 'get rid of them'. I specifically went to Petsmart several times wanting to adopt fry. I'm new at this, but it seems difficult for me to believe that at least some of the fry wouldn't make it.

PS. Hey 3fsh - I have 2 black molly fry in my tank, too!! Aren't they the best?? I love the way they spend all day poking at everything... I just hope they don't grow up to be like their momma, poking at all the other fish!

Molly fry are so cute. You have some cute little dalmations! Mine used to be that size about a week ago. They are a little bigger now and you can see all of their pretty black spots! Their eyes are so cute too. I can't wait until they are big enough to put them in the main tank.
