there are many ideas, despite what some people say.

You could do 4 tiny tetras, like neons,
Many diffrent kinds of killie fish
pygmy cories
guppies, dwarf platties, and some of the smaller not very commen live bearers, like endlers, and the merry widow

there are others, but i am not sure about how other people feel about them, so just stick to some of those.

yes those ideas would be very good guppys especially i have 5 in a 20 gal along with other kinds of fish and i have 18 guppy fry in a different tank but 4 or 5 guppys would go nicely in a 5 gal tank (they like some plants to hide and brush up against).

or you could go pretty and inexspensive like some white cloud mountain minnows they are very pretty you could even get the gold version of them i bought 5 for £4
but he gave me six because im a regular customer :p

hope i helped a bit.

you could even get a snail to clean up the mess like a trumpet snail or somthing . :D

excellent, thats good news.

We thought maybe guppies, but weren't too sure, will head over to the livebearer section in a mo for a read.
Will prob stay clear of tetras for the time being, given they need a well established tank, and this ones not yet!

Just a quick one - can you mix different species of guppies?

actually only neons do, others dont.

Well..if you are having a betta in there, you can't get guppies nor neons. The guppies will be like "rivals" and the neons will most likely nip your betta.

Betta's realy do best on their own, and guppys will breed alot and you couldn't realy keep more than 2 at best realy as they do like their space- even after that they would probably feel quite cramped.
