i have a 5 gal, i have molly fry in there but there getting too big so i think in a few weeks its time to let them go. anyway i was thinking of getting a Betta now i heard people separating a 5 gal so its a 2.5 gal with 2 Betta's or should i just keep one Betta in a 5 gal?

can two females get along in a 5 gal?

any advice will be appreciated :)

oh yeah would a apple snail cause problems for a betta(s)?

you could keep 2 females if the tank was divided but not together, females need to be in groups of at least 4 to spread aggression, a male would love it in there, as for the snail it depends on the actual betta its self

divide it and put a couple males eahc side of females.Or even a male one side and a female the other side :good:

cheers i think I'll get one male. I'll have two think of the divider. i really like my apple snail, is there any way i could get the Betta to like the snail?

snail is 3.5 cm in length and 3 cm height, also theres 3 live plants and i have a few slates would the betta be ok with that?

You'll just have to try it, I know some bettas can enjoy eating the eyestalks, but luckilly they'll grow back if anything does go wrong.

Also wanted to add that 3-4 females together have to me in a minimum 10 gallon tank with lots of places to hide or they will hurt each other.

I have one of my male bettas in a 5 gallon and he loves it! He has lots of room and he's a happy camper!

I think he would be fine with the snail. My four boys don't seem to mind them cruising around at all; especially when they notice their reflection and neighbors!
