Ok so im going to start to divide and sort out my large 4ft tank. I have a few questions though about filtration and dividing.

Im going to divide it into 4 or 5. I havent measured the difference yet...

Here is my tank....

Im going to use Penplax to divide it and permanently fix them into place.

Here are my questions...
Is silicon best to use for permanent dividing fixtures? If so what do i buy/use? Can i use normal house hold silicon??

What wattage heater should i use? I am wondering whether to put 1x 25watt heater down each end or weather to put one heater in the middle section and hope the heat disperses through the water and dividers.

Usually i place my heater along the side of the wall or on an angle on the far wall. Would the water stay at more a current temp if there was a 25watt heater down each side?

Is it a good idea to have a filter intake for all sections or will one down the end suffice? I do weekly gravel vacs on all my tanks so im not sure a full length under gravel filter is neccessary. I want to have the spray bar down the whole back of the tank for better water flow so there will be circulation. I am going to use an external filter.

How many LPHour should i be looking for filtration wise for water turn over? The tank has been used before so it wills till need to be cycled but it should be a pretty quick cycle as the gravel hasnt been washed and i can clone the media and use water from my other tanks.

Im also looking at putting an air wand in for aeration. I have an air stone in all my bettas tanks on low for extra help with water quality.

I'd have the intake from one end and the return at the other. That way the flow through the sections will be good

You wont need anything too excessive if its for 4/5 bettas. Plus you have to think about how much disturbance the return will cause.

Im having some problems finding shops that sell aquarium sealent. (Granted it is ANZAC Day here so not much is open..) Thats why i was wondering about normal sealent.

My shopping list thus far is:

2x 100watt heaters
4x Penplax dividers
Aquarium sealant
Light
Air wand - bought. got an air curtain which i havent seen before.

could you use hot glue?

As in a hot glue gun?

I was never allowed to use them at school lol!

Im not sure how durable the glue would be when immersed in water 24/7....super glue crossed my mind but i think that may be slightly toxic?

Depending on how fast you were looking to do this, have you tried eBay? The UK site anyway has quite a selection of aquarium grade sealant. Just a thought.....

EDIT:- Scratch that, just looked at all Aussie ebay fish items and there are no sealants, nor any offered for sale by the advertised shops in the links on there, and yes I checked the first 8 pages worth! I could always send you some....lol

Yeah i hit ebay up and got back zip. Ive shot an email off to my boys who run a large aquairum out in rural Vic. Hopeing the have some out there. Im not rushing to do it up. But the sooner it is done before we move the quicker i can fill it straight away after we move!

super glue can be used, but it needs to dry and then cure for quite some time. also silicon is flexible and can be scraped off with a flat razor blade in case you wanted to rearange the set up, with super glue its there forever.
