here's my tank. its pretty new so most of the plants are fast growers except the anubias and crypt.

the main fish are :
gold gouramis
platys
cardinal tetras

with some other little guys in there

Its looking really nice! Lovely greens! Id move that heater over behind the plants on the left though, its always good to try and minmise what equipment you can see! :)

I really like the colours here. The green from the plants, the orange from the Platies and the light brown from the substrate all goes very well together in my opinion.
Thought about having any corydoras in there?

That is coming along splendidly! :good: I love the addition of the A. reineckii. Very pretty. Is your anubia buried in the substrate? I have always read and heard that they should be anchored to wood or the rhyzome can rot for lack of water flow, but I have seen others do differently.

Beautiful tank, I'd be proud. I really like the platies, such a pretty fish. I've got some too.

llj :)

thanks for the nice comments.

i think the anubias are ok, they get replanted every few weeks so i may give 'em a tug. i hear they grow best emergent but thats kind of hard with such a tall tank. the a. reneckii leaves were wilting, now they've sorted themselves out (once they started growing)

i had a big of a BBA problem and that has cleared up now so i'm elated.

What did you use to treat your BBA problem? A. reineckii does not do well with Excel treatments. I found that out when I developed staghorn. Nearly lost my plants.

llj :)

i bleached the anubias to start (5% bleach solution, 3 min)

the problem started after i began EI so the only conclusion i could come to was i was dosing too much phosphate.

i picked up a syringe now i dose 1ML/day of phosphate and 1ML of trace. i am keeping up the water change schedule and dosing equal amounts of N and K (keeping nitrate at least 10ppm consistently), nitrates tested every other day.

i've gone a bit overboard to the point of researching redox values in aquariums so i have been experimenting with peroxide in trouble spots, like the fern and vals in the tank, they don't take well to bleaching. maximum dose of 3ML twice a week in a 210L tank seems ok for my fish and shrimp.

Wow, the first picture looks exactly like a tank at my LFS.

Anyhoo, nice tank! The Platy coloration against the plants looks great. :)
