42 Gallon Tank Stocking Some Advice Please

Right my Rena 42G tank has the following stock. I would like to add some more.

X10 neon tetras
X9 Barbs (x3 green, tiger and albino)
X2 dwalf Gouramis (1 male 1 Female)
X2 sowrd tails (both male, both females died)
X2 Juili cory catfish

I know sword tails should'nt be with barbs, but as i bought the barbs after the swords they seem to get on ok. Heres my list of what I would like to add.

X2 dwalf gourmis or may be the bigger ones I don't know how big they get?
X2 more juli cory
X2 sword tail femals
X2 torpedo barbs
and maybe x1 rainbow fish

My LFS reckons I could have another ten fish of the same size as my current stock. but maybe you guys might know better. after all your not trying to sell them to me.

I wouldn't add the torpedo barbs, they need bigger groups to be happy, which you don't have room for. I suggest getting about 8 cories. You'll see much more activity and character from them.
Raibowfish also like to be in groups, so I don't think you should get that either, especially becasue some kinds have long fins. I think dwarf gouramis have been getting sick a lot lately, so maybe a different type of gourami, like a trio of Pearls? And a few more neons wouldn't hurt. I think that would sum it up nicely.

15 Neon Tetras
9 Barbs (although I think it would look better if you have the same kind)

You feel I could your choice in my tank on top of what i've got now? that would give 25 neons or are you giveing me the total for the tank? should I have more female swords than males? I have two males!

do you know how to work out stocking for yourself, it's the inch per gallon rule, you find the adult size of the fish in inches and you should be able to add them all up to the same number of gallons as your tank.

so you now have

X10 neon tetras - 10"
X9 Barbs (x3 green, tiger and albino) - 18"
X2 dwalf Gouramis (1 male 1 Female) - 4"
X2 sowrd tails (both male, both females died) - 8"
X2 Juili cory catfish - 3"

so that's already 43" so basically your fully stocked.

however the cory's will do much better in a group so i'd get 4 more of them to get it up to 6
