Okay, first question, I've been wondering would a pair of convicts be alright in a 40 gallon tank? Also anything else I could add to the tank? Or are they that terrotorial? Any bottom dwelling fish? Would cories be alright assuming plenty of hiding spaces for the convicts and cories? Any suggestions or ideas? I want to have a fun tank and I've heard convicts are fun (not to mention aggresive heh).. Thanks in advanced...

they should be fine in a 40 gallon. I would think cories would be ok to keep int he tank as long as they have places to hide.

Cons will breed like crazy if you end up with a pair  So be prepared with a plan for the fry.

If the cories go into the teritory the cons stake out they will be chased. but if they stay clear they should be fine.

Good luck

Josh

i wouldn't put cories with any cichlid besides dwarf cichlids.
Convicts are bottom dwellers too IME and will kill off anything that goes near it's territory.
IMO, you could get away with one, maybe two pairs of convicts with loads of hiding spaces, and maybeZebra Danios, as they stay at the top and rarely go to the bottom, but it's still a risk
If you want cichlids in a 40g. Dont do convicts.
Do peaceful community(dwarf cichlids with tetras etc) or do a Mbuna set up(african cichlids)

Either way I have 2 convicts.. looks like 2 males hard to find females of any kind around me.. None of them bother each other, the two convicts like to chase each other. They just ignore the cories I've been watching them closely and they stay away from each other... The cories tend to stay in the corners and digging for food hehe.. The convicts tend to swim around the middle and front.

If I notice anything happening I have another tank to move the cories to thats only lightly stocked...

I really don't know how long your cories will last. My convicts would kill 10 cories in 10 minutes easily. I guess your convicts are being nice, but definitely keep an eye on them, things can change in the blink of an eye. Male convicts often don't get along with each other, are they siblings?

Man convict is way too agreesive maybe german ram? they look much much better then convict and you can easily keep many peaceful fish with them as german ram r very peaceful as well.
