4 Year Old Platty

One of the first Platties I purchased died this morning of old age.
I noticed yesterday when I got home from work that he was a little weak and was getting less and less active, he needed to rest more than usual.

I kept an eye on him until I went to bed and this morning he was stuck to the filter inlet. My hubby turned off the filter so I could net him and put him in my floating breeder tank for him to be in peace until he passed.

I am so sad as he was my favorite. His colors were so pretty even to the end.

Ahhhh what a shame I know it's not nice, but all good things must come to an end. At least he had a great littl life!

4 years is a good length of time for a platy, im sure that you gave it a comfortable home!

I'm sorry for your loss.
At least he had the chance to decide when it was his time to go.
All too often, we are faced with the decision of whether or not to prolong their lives while they linger on in pain.

And, if you had him for 4 years, you are a wonderful fishy parent.
