Hi

I added four clown loaches to my tank nearly 2 weeks ago. My tank was a couple of months old and readings (ammonia, nitrate etc) were ok but they all quicky developed many white spots pretty much like the picture above. I have treated with protozin at half the dosage for six days now but this seems to have had no effect. The tank temp is in the 80F+ region and no other fish seem to be infected apart from a flying fox that likes to rub and flick about a bit (but he has always seemed to do this). The white spots haven't spread to any of the other fish in the tank and the loaches are active and seem happy enough.

I've read that loaches are very sensitive to water quality, does this mean the ammonian nitrate stats? Could the white spots be something other than ich as ~I would expect the cysts to have burst or reduced given the temp of the tank and the treatment added. Am getting worried now, should I redose at the recommended dosage?

Any advise greately appreciated

Thanks

How many gallons is the tank.
How many fish and which type.

Does the waterlife med suggest half dosing with clown loaches.
It takes longer to get rid of whitespot when you are only half dosing. It can also take two rounds of meds.

You need to raise temp to 30.
have you increased aeration in the tank.
