Hi,

apologies if this is the wrong forum, it just seemd like an appropriate place to ask.

Juwel (and probably other makes are available) Make very nice 3d backgrounds, i had never thought about this before. After recieving an offcut from a friend, i have used it in my newest tank and i think it is great! it has places for the fish to graze and hide wtc, its brilliant. i do have a few annoyances with it however, 1) it takes up a lot of room, 2) if i want to replicate this in my main tank, its going to cost me £90!

There are cheaper alternatives, but personally i dont think they are that great, or at least nor for what i want. so i wondered about making my own! that way i can make them thiner, so as to not take up too much tank, and hopefully make them cheaper as well.

Obviously i have to be careful what im making them from, which brings me to the reason for the post.

Is there an aquarium safe expanding foam i can buy? as well as maybe some aquarium safe paints?

I have googled but im not getting clear answers, so i wondered if someone here has tried such a thing!

Thanks.
