Okay so first i wanted 2 discus in my 35, then i wanted a blue acara and firemouth, and now i want some tetras. I know that i am going to be getting 2 albino longifn bristlenoses. I was thinking about getting 1 school of 6 cardinal tetras, 1 school of 6 gold neon tetras, and maybe 2 gold rams (pair) or 2 blue rams (pair). would this be overstocked, or would the rams not work. what else could i put in there?

overstocked! for what you want id recomend a 55gallon or bigger and the tetras might be reguarded as food to the larger fish for a 35 gallon id recomend maybe a pair or 2 of kribs or maybe a pair of Angels and a few botum dwellers like cory cats or a clown loach

no, now i just want the 2 albino longfin bn's, 6 cardinals, 6 gold neon tetras, and maybe some other tetras. i dont want the discus or ba or fm if thats what you think.

i think that would work. I dont know how big bristle noses get though lol.
You said you wanted blue or gold rams too right? a pair would be fine i guess since they are dwarf cichlids and are very peaceful from what i hear

That should be fine. I do urge you to keep the Rams in soft water (GH of no more than 8degrees) though as they will not survive long without it. Make sure there are lots of hiding place for the plecs to. This should avoid aggression. Good luck.

yeah i have 2 big pieces of driftwood for them too hide in. dont know how soft my water is here, we get well water and dont need to dechlorinate it and i hvae never tested for how soft it is. Would you just use a normal test kit? could i take a water sample to the lfs and have them test it for me?

Well water? It will probably be hard then. I'm not sure though. Is it worth £6 to find out? I doubt the LFS will test it for you.

my lfs know me very well (its a small little shop with great fish and 2 main guys that work there, one for SW and one for FW.) i have even known the FW guy since he was in the shop i used to go to until they made this one. These guys even set up our SW tank for us and i really trust them and am pretty sure taht they would do it for me. This weekend i will take a sample because i have had my tank cycling for about a month and a half now and am ready for fish :hyper:

I would raise both of the tetras numbers to 8 and that's all. So you'd have 8 neons, 8 gold neons, the rams (if your water is soft) and the two plecs.

If you can't have the rams, I would have a groups of 6 cories, small ones though, like pandas. They're one of my favorite fish.
