Just out of curiousity. Are Cichilds alright in a hex tank? I know some fish don't do as well. If they are ok.. How many could you get for a 35 Gallon tank where it wouldn't be overstocked. Thanks. :D

Hi wolf - I won't be able to answer your question but I think that your post would get more traffic if it is in a diff forum then newbie - folks use newbie mostly for just introducing themselves. :)

jams. is right, you might want to ask this in another category, but wanted to say :hi: to you, and I'm sure you'll find the answer!

Welcome to TFF, Wolf! If I'm not mistaken, you can have some of the less agressive cichlids in a hex aquarium. Were you thinking of keeping African or South American cichlids? I know many aquarists how have kept angels in a hex aquarium. Angels are a good choice for hex tanks because they prefer taller tanks. :)

Hey, thanks for the welcoming & the advice. Actually, after reading more about Hex aquariums I've decided against them.. they limit me in what types of fish I can have a little too much..

Cutechic, I was thinking about getting African cichlids. I had some a few years ago.. but nothing is set in stone yet.. There's just so many fish to choose from.

You're right about the hex tanks. For the same price, you can probably get a much bigger rectangular tank, anyway!

I'm thinking about starting up an African cichlid tank, too. Good luck with them, if you decide to get some
