30L For Platy

Hi all, I a 30L big enough for a single platy and perhaps a few tetra or shrimp?

I read that 10gal would be the minimum for Platys but I bet that's assuming you have more than one.

Personally I can't see why not.

That's what I thought! I feel so bad getting is of the bully I'm thinking a new tank instead

Lol I know exactly how you feel. You know I said my bully is still in the shop (so sure it's him)? I'm seriously considering buying him back for my new 20L. He's still only very small so I assume that's gonna be his full size.

Dunno though, maybe still a bit small.

Your platy would be fine in a tank that size, if you're thinking along the lines of shrimp as well then do be aware that if you have something like red cherry shrimp the platy will likely eat the babies. The red cherries I have are breeding like rabbits!!

I think if I'm correct, the Amano shrimp are big enough not to be eaten and rarely breed but I'm happy to be corrected on that one. The amano may be a better choice of shrimp. I'm sure if you have some java moss in the tank they'll be fine.
I'm not 100% on which tetras would be ok so I can't advise you on that one in a tank that size. I personally would have said 6 neons might be good but I don't know for certain.

The tank I had my eye on went - will need to hope another comes up! He's in a 25L at the moment, hopefully he's ok there for a while.
