Hi,

I have a corner 30 litre fish tank, it has a heater, an internal filter and real plants.

I plan to do a fishless cycle and when that is completed add some fish.

I was just wondering what I can have?

I dont want shrimp or snails, but would consider a single betta

Could I have a small shoal of neons?

or a few guppies?

I like pretty small fish and would prefer that to a single fish but dont want to overstock etc.
Thanks

Neon / cardinal tetra's are a great choice. Their colours are beautiful. I have a 10 in my 55g. Planning on getting more. They don't get real big either. A couple of guppies or platy's are a great choice. Try and get males. They breed like rabbits, and you will be overrun in no time. (Pigmy) cory cats for the bottom and you will be set with a very active colourful community tank.
Just my 2 cents

Check out Ember tetras [Hyphessobrycon amandae] or Green Neon tetras [Paracheirodon simulans]. They are both miniature tetras, meaning you could have a larger shoal in a smaller tank. Also the Dwarf rasbora [Boraras maculates] are lovely too. You could probably house 8-10 of each species [but only one species] in small planted tank. That is for schooling fish. The Scarlet Badis [Dario dario] is pretty awesome, if you wanted a species tank.

Given that the tank is a corner tank it is probably has a small footprint and therfore is not realy suitable for any active swimmers like tetras. Y not go for something abit different. A group of sparkling gourami and some clown killis or a trio of scarlet badis and some hara jerdoni a trio of honey gourami might b ok. All these fish are far less active than tetras and more suited to smaller aquaria.

Have you asked your local tropical shop for some filter medium? if you can get some and a few fish to keep it fed, it will save you weeks.........
