My boyfriend went to the grocery store today and he said they set up a fish tank in one of the isles. He said it was about a 25 gallon and it had 30 different types of goldfish in it

Tomorrow I am gonna go take a look myself. I wonder if there is anything I can say to them without offending them or them getting ticked at me??? :/

My mind is going crazy thinking about the fate of the goldfish :-(

ARGH

All you need to say it that it is abbusive to the fish and that they will be dead very soon and that by overstocking the tank so badly, they are giving themselves more work to do on the tank to clean it out. As we all know, Goldfish's are very dirty, and reallistically need AT LEAST 20G each when fully grown.

I suggest you tell them some places they can return some of the fish, or some friends' ponds you can save some of them in?

Its shocking the ammount of ill-treated fish you find in public places - Doctors Surgersy/Hospitals, Resteraunts, Shopping Malls, Bars etc. They obviously dont care for the fish at all in most cases!

i've a quarter that says someone got the bright idea to sell goldfish in the petfood aisle. "they're coldwater, fish aren't they? walmart sells them, why should they make all the money? i bet people who buy fish from us would also buy fishbowls and more fish food..."

*sigh* good luck on getting it stopped. threaten to sick PETA on them.

i wonder how high the ammonia and nitrite leves are. i would tell them the truth. thats extremly way overstocked. maybe you should atleast ask them if the do 50% water changes twice a week. that cruel.

I went to the grocery store today with my boyfriend to look at the fish and they now have a for sale sign up :S It's about a 15 gallon tank and there are about 30 goldfish and swordtails mixed  :S

I said to my boyfriend why the heck does a grocery store want to sell fish?? Don't ya think thats a bit weird..and he said yeah and that he doesn't even think it's legal because places that sell animals need special permits

I don't want to open my mouth there though because the people who own the place and work there dont look all too friendly ..kinda scary actually :/

Maybe I could call an report them instead ...ask if it's legal and someone with higher power could do something about it. I'm sure they have some kinda of RSPCA here.
