I recently aquired two new tanks. One is a regular 30 gallon and I've put sand in it and have the filter going, but that's all. No ideas yet. I know I want something tropical, but I don't know. I'd also like to plant it. Also I have a 25 Gallon tall Eclipse which I would like to do something will also. The eclipse already has rockwork and caves, it just needs some plants eventually. But what fish could I put in there? I don't know what I want in that tank. There's too many options but lately I haven't been able to think of much. Any ideas? Opinions?

I love cichlids but with a 30 gallon you have your limits.. Maybe a community tropical tank, Some mollies possibly they are fun and easy to breed.

It depends what you are into like tetras, livebearers, danios, catfish etc etc. At least tell us what fish group/family you are into to help give us an idea on where to start?

See I have no idea. I was thinking about some guppies and other easy tropicals in the downstairs 30 gallon tank. I deffinately want some khuli loaches. I'm researching on killifish. I know there's tons, but you don't see much info on them. But then I was thinking of making the 25 tall a female betta community.

tropical community:

top: live bearers, dwarf gourami
top schooling: danios, wcmn
mid/schooling: tetras and barbs
bottom: cories, ottos, upside donw cats

hope this helps

it all depends on what you like,
but you could have the 30 gallon as a planted community tank
im not sure about the other one. youd have to think about that one :)

Right now in the 25 Tall I have some neons, an upside down cat, and a black khuli loach. They're both getting some more companions on wednesday. The upside down cat I've had for a long time. And maybe some long fin tetras, or male guppies, I'd be keeping the females and males separate maybe. I don't know. Maybe if I'm careful I won't get too many inbred.
