the gut at the lfs said i have 1 male and 2 females but im not so sure he knew what he was talking about.is there a easy way to sex them?all 3 of them have red/orange spots on their bellies are they all female?they are all between 3" to 4" long

sounds like they could be if there showing breeding colours cos none of my males ever did and i had 6.

the anal fin (think thats wht its called) is either shorter or longer on the males so if all yours are the same length you kno you have 3 females.

sorry thats so vague lol.

If they all have orange/red bellies then they females. Females also have shorter more rounded fins (dorsal fin and anal fin). Males tend to have a hump on thier head when adults and to have longer more pointed fins.

thats not that bad dude.

if you had 3 then a pair formed, the third would get bullied to death or atleast made to lead a pretty miserable life hiding in a corner.

were you after some free feeder fish or something?

i went to a different lfs and got a male today but it is only 1.5" is that to small to breed?it is dwarfed by the females,do i need a bigger male?

so u bought 300 convicts in a week. thats a sad waste of time and money.
i have a 2" fish with a lump on its head. although i have seen some female fish with lump on their head before. my guess if theyve, all got orange underbellys they are female.

ok first it was assumed that i was against feeders and now your saying this.

think i need to explain my posts more or something.

i had 13 adult cons, thats where the 300 came from so its probably best to atleast ask that before calling it a sad waste of time and money.

 Yeah, Sam kept buying them one at a time, he wondered where they kept going and had to keep replacing them....

Incidentally, that was a joke.

my oscar munched through about 300 in a few weeks.

I got convicts and of course they bred instantly, but the oscar wouldn't eat them...wouldn't even try to catch them. So, I fed them to my blue crayfish.
