So i bought 1 of these guys awhile back for tank and i really liked the type of fish. so i went out and bought 2 more for my tank. The 2 new ones get along great but old small one is attacking them and has brightend up in color. Im not sure if its trying to breed with one of them or if its angry or what. But besides the tempers i personally want to know if i have males or females. and if the fighting dont stop i will throw them all in their own tanks have plenty of tanks around here set up.

Group photo of all 3 and back end of my older one.

I can't really see the patterning that well, but from what I can tell and from what you said, it sounds like you possibly could have 2 males and 1 female.

In photo 1, it actually looks like 4 rams but I'm assuming that's a reflection.

I'd love to get a cichlid specialist's opinion.

Last photo looks like a female with the breeding tube. But you'll have to wait. Your original is attacking because there are intruders in his/her territory. You probably should rearrange things to confuse the original territory. That might mellow the old guy out . My experience is that doesn't matter, male or female, these are scrappy little characters and they can be fighting one minute and loving the next. Good luck. To help with sexing, really need side view photos.

the 2 new ones look female and the old one looks like it could be a male
