i have 2 angels at the moment, who have paired up together and follow each other everywhere. the lady at the fish shop said she has 3 of them in her tank, and said that its best to introduce them while they are still juvies because when they are bigger they might eat a baby introduced.
so does 3 work for angels, would they all hang around together, or would that cause conflict on a pair?
or is it best to have just 2. or if getting more, are even numbers best.
i know they get quite big, so not sure how many u could realistically have in a 125 anyhow

Hi,
I´m not sure, do you mean the Angelfish? Lat. Skalar?
In my opinion it´s better to maintain only a pair of them.
I made the experience, that 3 angelfish is not so good, because sometimes you might have two male.
It is so well save, that the both male will fight for the female.That´s stress for all other inhabitant of your tank!
Let them both alone.You´ll have more fun this way!
Many greetings,
Robin

I would stick with two ina 125 liter. You could get away with more if a pair is included in a larger tank, much of this depends on the temperment of the pair.

I agree with Tolak. In that size tank, if your pair turn out to be particularly aggressive or territorial spawners, they could very well injure your other angel.

125L is the bare minimum for 2 angels and definitely not large enough for 3. If you happen to have a breeding pair, their tank mates could be in danger if the angels do spawn. lots of plants and hide outs will be necessary to prevent the harassment that will occur.
Cheers;

I've got a 75 gallon that I was planning on doing an Amazon tank in next Summer. Is that enough room for a larger group of angels? Say, six?

Six would be fine as far as tank space, and leave you some room for a nice group of corys & a small plec. The only problem you may have is some aggression when pairing, this is unpredictable as far as how agressive they will get. It took me several months of switching mature fish to find 7 that were compatable for my 65.
