Hi all if i put a divider in a 2g tank would thisbe ok for 2 male bettas?.The dimensions are 11x7x7inch.That would mean:5.5x3.5x3.5inch each.thanks!

oh ok,There is this shop called the range and they do plastic tanks.Would i be able to keep two in the next size up tank? The dimensions are:13x8x8inch.Would this be ok.No idea how many litres there are.

can you not just get two smaller tanks? ideally the min would be 5 gallon for splitting a tank for two males

that means two heaters and twice as much space.I thought bettas can be kept in 1g tanks.I think this tank is 3g or so.thanks.

It's worth paying out for two heaters for the welfare of your fish. Like zoekin suggested it would be best to get two tanks. Bettas like to have plants and places to hide so with a 1g tank it wouldn't leave much room for the fish. :/

1g is the absolute minimum, its not really the best for them, if you can give them more space do. Small heaters dont cost that much, if you want to keep fish you should give them the best you can. If you dont have room for two males then dont get two

Technically, I agree that you could have 2 bettas in it with a divider... but that kinda setup would be a pain in the rear. Maintanence would be heck cleaning such a small tank with the divider in the way. Plus a betta could still slip around the divider or jump over it... leading to you clean up the aftermath of a fight.

For the sake of peace of mind and easier maintenance, I would get a second tank instead.

If they could see each other through the divider they would be constantly in fight mode with nowhere to go for a break, far from the best conditions.

The tank that you said is 11"x7"x7" is not 2g it is 1.8 which makes 0.9g each. That is if you fill this tank to the brim, not accounting for water displacement by heater. As someone else has said in a divided tank the bettas need to be able to escape each other in a cave or somehting but in a tank this big you wont have space...

So you have to ask yourself, do you really want two bettas or do you want to do the best by the fish? One gallon is the BARE minimum. 2 or 2.5g is a lot better. You can keep a dog in a cupboard and throw in a bone once a week, it'll live but doesnt mean it would be happy. Only take on what you can handle and afford. Its only right by the fish.

Also this would mean you would not have space for a heater, so you would have to do 100% water change a week. Would you be able to keep up with this?

ill wait for my 2ft tank to be empty then.Might divide it into 3.Its 10g so that means just over 3.3g each.Does this setup sound better to you all?I picked up a goldy yellow vt betta yesterday, hes in my hospital tank until there is a tank for him.I just had to get him hes the only one i have ever seen.He was cheap to.

the 10G idea sounds a lot better. They are such beautiful fish I can see why you would want two. I was thinking of doing two small tanks as well, but then measured the space I had available, one tank it is then!!!

I was going to keep a piece of card between mine, how are you going to divide the ten?

GFG

how are you going to divide the ten?
if you mean how am i going to divide mine,i will either buy dividers or i will make them out of acrylic.Ebay is a good place for acrylic.Remember to put holes in the divider lol.If all goes well i might try and do it with a 4ft tank.
