Hopefully this is in the right place, if not i appologize.

I am starting a build on a 29 gallon fw planted tank. This isn't my first tank, i've had multiple FW and a couple saltwater tank in the past years, however this is the first FW that I am going to get serious with and make it something worth looking at lol.

What im starting with is a basic 29g tank, 30"l x 12"w x 18"h .

Aquaclear 50 filter
Aqueon heater (forget watts)
Koralia 250gph powerhead for surface aggitation and some flow
Aquaticlife 2 bulb T5 light (1 10,000k bulb and 1 650nm bulb).

I plan to replace the HOB filter with a fluval 205 canister unit.

So far the tank is cycling, i set it up last wednesday and used a dosing of 3 days to start a healthy cycle of beneficial bacteria. I have used special blend in the past in my SW tanks and had great success so I found something else for FW that i used to see how it works. So far I don't have a test kit, just my leftover API from my saltwater tank which I doubt will work with FW? would be cool if someone could tell me it would lol.

anyways, heres pictures (not many, but 2 or 3). It is a bit cloudy because of the bacterial bloom that started with the cycle.

new tank ready to be filled, didn't reuse my old SW tank because i didn't want to risk salt leaching from the seams etc..

a small stone wall i built that makes a new level, soemthing I wanted to try still not sure how I feel about it. that "higher level" will be stocked with plants fairly heavy, and sparse down on the lower level.
