USA,
I have decided to go against the 29 for shellies and use my 10 gallon for that. It will be planted, and I hope it will look nice lol.

1st off, which i should ask in the live beaers section, is do guppies eat plants. Ive had some that did, and some that didnt. Im just not sure at all anymore if it is a yes or no.

2nd. I want to get some angel fish. Dont care if they are a pair, I just like the looks of them, and have for a long time.

3rd. I want to get some Apistogramma for the bottem, a nice pair. Maybe red, i love red. But dont know anywhere to find them, or any sites at all. My lfs would rip me off for them so I dont want to even bother with them.

4. I have corries, I dont want the Apistogramma to harm them when they breed, i know the kribs didnt, but not sure about these guys, though I think they are more peaceful.

5. i want something else in the top area, I did want neons or cardinals, but I know that the angels would eventually eat them. i want something coorful, and I dont care what it is, as long as it wont harm any guppies or plants.

What do you consider a ripoff? I just got a pair of cockatoos for $30 and I have no idea if that's a good price or not. However, the place I go to is an indepent store and they give me good service. I don't mind paying a bit more for quality fish. I wouldn't buy fish from the local chain store.

okay angelfish will probably eat your guppies, angel will eat fish. The guppies probably did not eat your plants, guppies pick at everything to see if it's food but they aren't known for eating live plants, if you are looking for peaceful fish that won't hurt plants or guppies or the cory's look at some Pearl Gouramis, they are very sweet fish.

$30 A pair is what I paid as well .

A place called pet solutions[ internet] has them listed for 7 or $8.99 each , but they always seem to be on back order , have no idea what type they are either , live aquaria has them listed for I think $49.95 a pair . $30 a pair seems fair for a pair , though they should list them for sale as trios :S $45.00 a trio , I'd pay it .

I kept some common guppies in with my guys , once when I came home from a 3 day weekend the male was gone  , I think my male apisto got hungry :)

aw, I guess no angels or Apistogramma untill the guppies die out. Or maybe if I get some small ones, I dont see how they could eat a full grown guppy.

The lfs would sell some Apistogramma for maybe $60-$100 for a pair, maybe even if it was a rare one. They are such a rip off.

Fancy guppies are bigger than the common feeder type , If all fish are well fed , apistos will leave them be . I keep feeders around for just certain occasions ;)

Right now in my big tank I have at least 10 baby badis badis sizes from under 1/2" to over 1" , and my apisto doesn't bother them , of coarse I feed him regularly , he's full grown too , about 3".

My guppies never really bothered my plants though .

Thats good to know. I do have some mini males though.

What kind of tetra will I be able to keep that is colorful that the angels wont eat? I dont know if they would eat cardinals or not, but I have never seen them at the lfs or any pet stores.

Honestly , I don't know , I've never kept Angels , and some of the bigger tetras can be nippy , Serpeas and head and tail lights are what we have , and my son says he has seen them nipping his gourami , the gourami is now in my tank , and the tetras now have skunk loaches to deal with , he he  .

There has to be something that will work for you I just :dunno: .

nothing ever seems to work for me, lol, except goldfish. My brothers is the first fish we ever got, the day after we got our firts ever tank. And now its 6 inchess big and still growing. And it was just a feeder as well. My dad might get him a bigger tank, lol. But then we wont be able to get any tropical fish.
I wish cardinal tetras were around. They are nice, and get big.

Its nice that you and your son both like fish.

yeah, my angelfish ate around 3 guppies once, and a differnet time a krib of mine ate a guppy. So.... guppies and angelfish don't mix well.

how big were the fish, and what kind of guppies, and what age?

I have one angel fish in a (planted) 29g with 5 fancy tail guppies and they get along fine. Actually I was thinking about getting another angel, the tank seems so empty to me... I think it depends on the individual fish when it comes to getting along with others. :hey:

thats sounds good, but my plans minght have changed. My dad might be brining home a 55 gallon today.

With my luck, we wont get it, but Its still an exciting thought.
