Hey everyone; I just upgraded my 10 gal sorority tank to an approx 29 gallon bowfront and I'm trying to figure out whether to add any more platies to it or not.
Currently I have 6 female bettas, 2 corys (will be upping this number to 5 or 6) & 1 platy.

Does anyone have experience keeping multiple platies with female bettas? or platies w/their own kind?
My current one is a female, but sometimes it seems like she's lonely as she'll follow the other fish around, trying to fit in.
If I got more I was thinking of getting 1 or 2 more and only females as I do not want to end up with tons of platies

oh and just for fun here's a pic of the tank

I don't have any experience with platies in particular, but with any kind of livebearer, if you buy females you may still get swamped with babies as female livebearers are usually pregnant when you buy them! (of course the female bettas may eat all the babies before they grow up, but who knows?)

personally i would increase the corys (as you said) and also increase the numbers of female bettas.

maybe move the platy back into the 10 gal and get her a few friends?

but then, i'm just obsessed with my bettas. (cant wait to breed, but we are moving house so gonna have to for a little while yet!)

Thanks for the reply! I'm going to keep the platy in with them and maybe get her 1 or 2 friends for in there I think (I'm trying to only keep 2 tanks [I have another 29 gal] and ocassionally a qt tank b/c I move between home and college currently); I can't wait to get more cories! Also I understand about the bettas, I saw a gorgeous light green female the other day... unfortunately didn't pick her up when I had the chance!

I was going to leave the number at 6 because they all get along great, but one of my girls jumped out of the tank the night I got it, breaking my heart and making me kick myself for not covering the small area by the filter that is open. However, that area is now covered with paper & tape, and while I can't bring back my much beloved East, I will see if I find any good looking bettas when I go platy shopping today

good luck breeding once you move! baby bettas would be irresistable!
