Hey guys, so I was starring at my newly planted tank waiting for the testkit to shows its colours (cycling the filter atm) and I thought to my self, 'I wouldn't mind some sort of frame to my tank.' So I'm thinking of different plants I could use on the sides of my tank, I have a background which is broken up by some driftwood, but I think I need a 'frame', on the sides to break up the open space of hairgrass...

Thats the tanks progress so far, but I was wanting some ideas of plants I can use for the sides. I don't want tall growing plants or any grasses like Vals or Sag But something with a broad leaf kinda like a crypt or something similar would be cool I think.

Or even if people could give their opinions on having broad leaved plants when almost all of them in there already are 'needle leaf'.
Thanks in advance :)

Bacopa Caroliniana? Has the potential to grow tallish but the leaves are broad?
Smells like mint but underwater, I love it :D
Can also produce little blue flowers if left to grow out of water.

Commonly known as the Water Hyssop - would take some researching but mine has done well in higher temperatures of up to 28, very adaptable.

Maybe an Echinodorus Rose?

*shrug* I'm awful at recommending plants :p
I suggest having a look at Tropica's A-Z - http://www.tropica.com/en/plants/plant-list-a-z.aspx

Haha no worries :), they are some pretty nice suggestions though. Really tempted to try out the Bacopa Caroliniana just to have minty water :p
Loving the Echinodorus Rose, might have to see if I can source some for a trial run in the tank :D

I'm in no rush for plants as the tank is still cycling, but I wouldn't mind trying out a few of these plants and seeing how I go :)
