I recently bought a 10 gallon tank to replace the 2 gallon i was going to keep a betta in. (the tank with filter, hood, lights and a few other bits was 35 bucks so hey .... :hey: ). Will the 25 watt heater i got for the 2 gallon be enough for the 10? It needs to raise the water about 4 degrees c.

depending on room temprature I would say nope- 5w per gallon.

I run a tank just over 7gallons in size on a 25 heater. And it heats it perfectly well. So long as you keep and eye on the tank temp, have a thermometer for it so you can make sure it's up to the job then you should be fine. Have it next to the filter so the heated water is being circulated around the tank more efficiently.
Hugs,
P.

Hi. I would say no. From my experience with my 10 gal tank i wouldn't go with less than 50 watts. Ten gallon tanks can easily change temperature depending on room temperature, water changes, direct sunlight and even having the tank lights on. I think that unless your room temperature is nearly always at the desired tank water temperature then you might want to get a stronger heater.

id say yes, i have a 50 in a 20 and my water is bat 80 while cycling.

i wouyld just keep an eye on the temp like another person said.
