After a debacle with a JBL CristalProfi I'm doing the sensible Eheim thing now...

For the Rio 180 in my sig, pretty lightly planted, lots of small fish and two Bolivians, can I get away with the 2215 or do I need the 2217? I'll still run the internal filter for now, I don't picture me removing it anytime soon, I like the idea of a backup.

Trying to watch the pennies so hoping the 2215 will suffice...and REALLY hoping this one will be virtually silent.

If you don't mind the lower flow, the 2215 should be fine, it definitely has more than enough bio-media. (I think that it is silly to be obsessed with the flow rate as there are other, more important factors to consider.)

The classic range is almost silent and very reliable, in my experience.

Thanks, I was hoping to hear that. I think with the internal as well it will be fine flow-wise.
