the middle o' bum**** and you got a purty mouf
ok so i've always been extremely intrested in marine tanks but never was actually brave enough to actually even consider taking that plunge. so here i am now with a 20g with no stocking ideas and it hits me, maybe i could make it marine

Anyway what im looking for is opinions like what would you put in a 20g reef tank, what corals or fish, and what equipment would you use. im not even sure i want to do this, im just trying to look at options.

I have got a 20 Gallon Reef.

I have started a journal in the marine aquarium journal section. Have a look.

20 Gallons are nice for a small piece of the ocean but be warned.....After a couple of months of having it you will want to upgrade it when you see fish that require a little more room. But as a beginner myself, Im glad I started small!

Ok so here's my idea of equipment (still totally hypothetical)

Eheim classic canister 2213-37
RO Water conditioner
Pure-Flo II RO Units 100 gps 3 stage with pump
Koralia Water CIrculation pumps nano (powerhead)
24W t5 Lighting
AquaticLife Internal Mini Skimmer 115 Mini Skimmer 115

just wondering if you guys think this will support a nano reef?

Eheim classic canister 2213-37 you don't need this - live rock is your filter

RO Water conditioner
Pure-Flo II RO Units 100 gps 3 stage with pump - RO unit, good
Koralia Water CIrculation pumps nano (powerhead) - :good:
24W t5 Lighting - yep - good for most softies
AquaticLife Internal Mini Skimmer 115 Mini Skimmer 115 - I don't know this skimmer

just wondering if you guys think this will support a nano reef?

seems fine, a few things missing though

*-Tank
*-Heater
*-RO Water Containers and water
*-Powerheads
*-Water change buckets
*-Salt Water test kit
*-Aragonite Sand
*-Refractometer
*-Thermometer
*-Salt
*-Live Rock
*-Lighting

With powerheads and heaters, you will need an extra for when mixing up the saltwater at the waterchange time.

Filter is not needed as the Live Rock will be doing this with help from the Powerhead. :good:

Edit: and a skimmer if you want to use one :)

*-Tank -got it
*-Heater -getting it (my last one busted)
*-RO Water Containers and water-getting it
*-Powerheads-getting it
*-Water change buckets-got em
*-Salt Water test kit -need it
*-Aragonite Sand - got it
*-Refractometer-getting it
*-Thermometer-got it
*-Salt-got it
*-Live Rock-getting it
*-Lighting-got some getting better ones

and i'm getting a skimmer too. this will definetly be the most expensive fish thing my family has ever done. well over 400$ for all of that lol

Im a newbie in the marine side too. So i dont know for sure.

My list for a 20G would be;
3 Turbo Snails
5 cerith snails
5 Nattarius(sp?) snails
3 Hermit crabs (blue legged do more work)
1 cleaner shrimp

Rough idea, you want a mixture. Turbo snails are a must, from what ive heard they do the most work. But be careful when adding the CUC, if added in too early they could die from starvation.

Shrimp shouldbe added after the tank is stable and after the snails and hermits. :good:

Ok well here's my proposed cuc. im sure i did this completely wrong and this would be a terrible set up. lol

5 astrae turbo snails
3 blue legged hermits
2Electric blue hermits
1 emerald crab
5 nassarius snail (SP?)
1 peppermint shrimp

if there's anything wrong with the list bear with me, I know it can't be all good haha

Glad you are taking your time - patience really is a virtue on the salty side :good:

5 astrae turbo snails too many, just get 2 for now
3 blue legged hermits too many, just get one for now
2Electric blue hermits again too many, just buy one
1 emerald crab - don't buy yet unless you are going to feed him
5 nassarius snail (SP?) yep fine, but i would buy a few more and maybe a couple of ceriths
1 peppermint shrimp - not yet - tank needs to be more stable

Good start :good:
