Hi there

I'm hopefully buying a 44 gal tank tomorrow, :good: i know i'm jumping the gun regarding stocking, but i was wondering what sort of fish i can keep in there...
I will be transferring my 10 harlequins and 4 platies to it,and will probably leave it like it for a while,my new canister filter is due anyday so i hope to clone using the 2 filters from my 20 gal tank, but once the tank is steady and any mini cycles stop i hope to gradually introduce more fish.

I would prefer to keep to a community tank, and possibly would like pygmy cories, although maidenhead aquatics don't seem to get them in very often,so suggestions to other small cories i could possibly have,i do like honey and dwarf gouramis.

so possibly stocking
10 harlequins
4 platies
honey gouramis/red robin-how many?
pygmy cories? or cories- how many?

Then i become stuck for choice of what i can have or would like  ,i've had tetras in the past and gave them away,so not overkeen,i prefer smallish colourful fish that looks like they are covering different parts of the tank,at the moment i have a shoal of HR and platies so they all seem to be in the same place!!

I'm still undecided on gravel or sand,i know cories prefer sand,my gravel is small and round and lfs said this is ok for small cories,is this correct?
Any help would be appreciated

:thanks:

suggested:
10+ harlequins
6-10 corydoras (what do you think of loaches? bristlenoses?)
4 platies
2 honey gourami (standard yellow or red)
8 flame tetra (you didn't really say which tetras you had kept previously)
2 blue or gold or opaline gourami
2 bolivian ram

I would use sand unless you have an under gravel filter. Although if the gravel is rounded and reasonably small (3mm diameter max) it would be fine to use.

Suggested temperature 26-27C.
