Hi guys, so I’ve just set up my first “big” tank that has required a stand and I have to say it’s not how I expected the stand and tank to go together. It is an AquaEl 200 Opti Set. I thought they would slot together in some kind of way but it simply sits on top. Is this the norm? The stand doesn’t seem any sturdier than a sort of IKEA flat pack, was I just expecting too much? There is also a slight over hang because of where the doors open? I’m sure it’s all fine but just wanted to check as I’ve never owned one like it, thanks

I never use off the shelf stands, but yes - those you can buy that way always are like this. "Sort of IKEA" - but I know dozens of folks who have those and they still stand after 10 years +.

Just remember one thing - ALWAYS, whether it's DIY stand or from your petstore - keep it level. Fishtank HAS TO be level.

If it's not the glass may brake, the stand can collapse.

Other than that, if you don't fell safe - reinforce it, but it's not necessary.

Looks good - a lot of the stands are like this and they need to evidence the stands are strong enough usually so I wouldnt be too worried.
