USA,
my aunt wants a fish tank, but the largest tank she can afford is a 20 high. She wants an angel fish, and I am wondering how long one can live in a 20 high tank? Also, what are the dementions of one of them?

One (full grown) should be fine in a 20high, 2 would be pushing it but maybe be possible depending on stocking, personally I'd have one with good variety of fish or get two small ones if she has a place to offload one (like you  ) when it gets bigger

Katchan

EDIT In - my son has a 20 high it had a large angel in when we purchased it, but currently has 2 small ones (with one of them already having a place to go)

I probably will have room for a large one latter on. How long do they usually take to grow? Mine are not growing that much, though I only had them for two months or so, ence march 21, so yeah, about 2.

also what other fish could go in there with the angel. I know I know alot of fish stuff, but I dont want to overstock the tank. I have never had a 20 high, and am not entierly sure about the dementions, so I dont know of the foot print.

If you get standard fin angels, you could keep 2 in there long term. 20 highs are just a little too shallow for veils, their fins will often get to 12" or better full grown. Many breeders use 20's for pairs. The tank footprint is 12"x24", 16" deep. That 16" leave just a few inches top & bottom for a full grown veil.

You could put a few livebearers in there, adds a bit of different color, fry will provide free food for the angels. They'll get big & healthy that way. I like keeping a few corys & a small bristlenose in my tanks. I need all the clean up help I can get.

Wow that sounded like a great tank you just designed!

I have a 20g extra tall. I think it's 2 feet tall with the same width and depth as a 10g. maybe a little bit deeper than a 10. It's kind of a pain to gravel vac but what ever ( i have to stand on a chair but i'm pretty short lol). Perfect for a breeding pair from what i understand.

wow, that is a great idea! That is basically what my aunt wanted. angels and guppies. though I did say to get some ottos, as the only bristlenose around her are $15, though I am sure she will like the corries!
