I know I am crazy about dwarf Cichlids, but I am preparing on getting a 20 gallon tank. I need some stocking suggestions. I read a pair of convicts will do good, but I will hvae no place to put the fry except for a creek down the street from me. I don't really want to do that. I also read that a fire mouth will be fine in there, but I need some real suggestons. I don't want a cichlid that doesn't grow overr 4 inches. No apistogramma, rams and the like. I might get some kribs, or keyholes. I can't get the multies I want, because I just can NOT find them on many sites, and the ones I do find them on have like $85 shipping rates. I can't do that. Please post your suggestions. Thank you. :good:

Convicts and Firemouths are going to get too big for a 20 gallon, I would say 29 gallon minimum for these guys. Anything bigger then 4 inches should really have a 29 gallon minimum IMO. Kribs would be fine though so you could go for those.

Apistogramma species

German Blue Rams, Golden Rams

:)

personally id get a pair of Rams (german blue)

I'm thinking about moving my tetras and ram from my 10 gallon to my 20 gallon and then adding some tankmates. I like sword tails. I'm REALLY interested in getting some type of live bearer harem for it. I'm tinking of platies, or sword tails. Then more tetras, more kinds then just neon though. And a bristlenose pleco.

Would a pair of apisto be fine in that tank? With 10 neons and 1 ram and a keyhole.

its 2 swarf cichlids to a 20gallon

its a pair only and other fishes like tetras, no more cichids after that.

so a pair of apisto's and no keyholes or Ram would be viable

Then I will only have one ram and a keyhole in my 20 gallon with 10 neon tetras, and maybe a school of corries or a bristlenose.

I wouldn't put a keyhole in that tank. They should get at least 29 gallons.

A pair of Ram would work. It's only a 20 gallon, not very large...

Yeah I have been thinking of that. I read some places where I need 20 gallons, or 29 gallons. I think I will go with 29 gallons, it will just take me longer. Then, I might get an apisto to go in the tank with the keyhole and ram. And If keyholes are peaceful and quite small, why do they need a tank of that size?
